Dayton Gems Leading Scorer Damian Surma Named CHL “Three Stars” Award Winner For March
GLENDALE, AZ  – Quad City Mallards forward Mickey Lang, Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees forward Aaron Lee and Dayton Gems forward Damian Surma have been named the ‘Oakley Three Stars ‘ for the month of March/2012.

For winning the ‘Oakley Three Star Player of the Month’ for March, Lang will receive a special gift from Oakley.  Learn more about Oakley’s products at www.oakley.com.

Players are awarded five points for first star recognition, three points for a second star nod and a single point for being named the third star of the game.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the season-long three stars standings are now complete with Quad City’s Brandon Marino earning the most points during the regular season (73 points).

First Star – Mickey Lang, F, Quad City Mallards

Lang has a month to remember scoring 22 points (9-13=22) with a +19 plus/minus rating in 13 games.  He finished with 24 star points earning two first star honors, four second star honors and two third star recognitions.

Second Star – Aaron Lee, F, Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees


Lee was named the first star more than any player this season (10 times) and in the month of March earned four first star honors and one second star honor good for 23 points.  The Calgary native had 11 goals and six assists in 11 games during the month.

Third Star – Damian Surma, F, Dayton Gems


Surma finished with 17 points in the month of March earning one first star nod and four second star honors.  During the month, the Lincoln Park, Michigan native scored nine goals with eight assists in 12 games played. Surma finished the season leading the Gems with 31 goals and 34 assists for 65 points in his 65 games played.
